Iringa Central Church (ICC) is one of the Religious Denomination registered under the Tanzania Assemblies of God Church's (T.A.G) located in Iringa Region, in Tanzania. This means ICC is one among several Assemblies of God (AG) Churches found all over the World. Therefore, ICC abide by core doctrines of the Assemblies of God Churches.
The Assemblies of God (AG) are among the Pentecostal churches. The biggest distinction setting AG apart from other Protestant churches is the practice of speaking in tongues as a sign of anointing and "Baptism in the Holy Spirit" - a special experience following salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service. Another distinct practice of Pentecostals is "miraculous healing" by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Assemblies of God denomination traces its roots back to a
religious revival that started during the late 1800's and continued
through the early 1900's. The revival was characterized by a widespread
experience of spiritual manifestations such as speaking in tongues and supernatural healing, giving birth to the Pentecostal movement. Charles Parham is a prominent figure in the history of the Assemblies of God and the Pentecostal movement. His teachings greatly influenced the doctrines of the Assemblies of God. He is the founder of the first Pentecostal church - the Apostolic Faith Church.
This "Statement of Fundamental Truths" contains the 16 doctrines of the
Assemblies of God. These are non-negotiable tenets of faith that all
Assemblies of God churches adhere to. Four of these, Salvation, the
Baptism in the Holy Spirit, Divine Healing, and the Second Coming of
Christ are considered Cardinal Doctrines which are essential to the
church's core mission of reaching the world for Christ. Download Full Statement (PDF).
Assemblies of God Statement of Fundamental Truths
The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. This
Statement of Fundamental Truths is intended simply as a basis of
fellowship among us (i.e., that we all speak the same thing,
1Corinthians 1:10 [KJV/NIV]; Acts 2:42 [KJV/NIV]).
The phraseology employed in this Statement is not inspired nor
contended for, but the truth set forth is held to be essential to a
full-gospel ministry. No claim is made that it covers all Biblical
truth, only that it covers our need as to these fundamental doctrines.
- The Scriptures Inspired: We believe the Scriptures are inspired by God.
- The One True God. We believe there is One True God revealed in three persons.
- The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- The Fall of Man. We believe man willingly fell into sin – ushering in evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world.
- The Salvation of Man. We believe every person can be restored to fellowship with God through accepting Christ's offer of forgiveness and salvation.
- The Ordinances of the Church. We believe in Water Baptism by immersion after salvation, and Holy Communion as a symbolic remembrance of Christ's suffering and death for our salvation.
- The Baptism in the Holy Spirit. We believe the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a special experience following salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service.
- The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. We believe the initial evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues as experienced on the Day of Pentecost.
- Sanctification. We believe sanctification initially occurs at Salvation, but is also a progressive lifelong process.
- The Church and Its Mission. We believe the church has a mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin.
- The Ministry. We believe a divinely called and biblically ordained leadership ministry serves the church.
- Divine Healing. We believe divine healing of the sick is a privilege for Christians today and is provided for in Christ's atonement.
- The Blessed Hope. We believe in the Blessed Hope - when Jesus raptures his church prior to his return to Earth.
- The Millennial Reign of Christ. We believe in the millennial reign of Christ when Jesus returns with his saints at his second coming and begins his rule over earth for 1,000 years.
- The Final Judgment. We believe in a final judgment for those who have rejected Christ.
- The New Heavens and the New Earth. We believe in a new heavens and a new earth that Christ is preparing for all people who have accepted Him.
